Infos, hints, explanations
The build-up of the tooth – a tooth has two main substances solid and soft. Enamel – the hardest tissue in the human body -, dentin and cementing (cementoenamel) belong to the solid substance. The soft substance holds the pulp (pulpa dentis) that consists blood vessels and nerves, also the root membrane which creates contact with the tooth-bed (periodontium, canal or alveolus).

Dental plaque – or fur. The dental plaque is basically a soft consistence of bacterial agregation that is organically clinging to the surface of the tooth or its supplement. It can be removed by mechanical scraping. There are two types should be differentiated: one is laying underneath the brink of the gum while the other is above it.

Dental tartar – is also a fur adhered to the tooth but with a solid consistency. Therefore, it can only be removed by medical process. I.e. dental hygienic treatment, or a high pressure air-brush technique. The same two types of the tartar exist as mentioned above, although the most common place this one can be found is the inner side of the lower teeth.

Caries – also known as dental decay. It starts to develop where the teeth are interfacing in the mouth, then dives deep under the gum. It is reversable at the early stage, but can become chronic and irreversable in time if not treated properly.

Oral hygiene – The lack of appropriate oral hygiene leads to gum inflammation and various other oral or dental desease. This is why extensive oral hygiene is very important even if one has already lost one’s own teeth. Supplements require the same level of hygiene as one’s own teeth would. To prevent these problems, our dentists will happily show you the right way of cleaning a particular supplement. The tools of nursing your teeth are the toothbrush – note that it should regularly be replaced for a new one every 3 months – floss, superfloss, mouth-shower etc.
Parodontium’s desease – is the consequence of improper oral hygiene and thus dental plaque. The gum gets inflamed, swollen and turns red, then later it can start even bleeding. When the plaque does not get removed, the inflammation develops and it leads to pyorrhoea. (atrophy of the gum tissue) The more ponderous type of the disease is when the inflammation extends onto the supporting tissues of the teeth, causing dilapidation of the bone along with loss of the teeth.
Bruxism / Gnashing of teeth – the actual cause of Bruxism is not known, although 90% of people have already suffered from i tat one time, most of them without knowing it. It mainly evolves from stress, whereas with children it does so during the eruption of permanent teeth. (turnout of teething) As people are mostly doing it whilst asleep, the representative symptoms of bruxism – like sore pain over the face and the jaws - come forward during daytime. To cure it, the solution can be a so called „overnight-bite-erector which is basically a flexible dental guide that is tailor-made to the patient’s teething trace (imprint). It obviously should be applied overnight by placing it in the mouth.
Substitution of amalgam (mercury) filling – basically amalgam is a combination of mercury and other metallic material(s) used for dental purposes. It is actually a good quality filling material however is not aesthetic. It should not necessarily be replaced by medical aspect as long as it is not causing any damage to the tooth. The main reason people tend to replace it is the aesthetic or allergy to the mercury itself. The amalgam in the tooth has no harmful effect whatsoever.
Extraction of the wisdom teeth (third molar) it is the 3rd molar or 8th tooth of the teeth in number also known as wisdom teeth. The shape and the extent of it is highly variable. But usually it looks like the 1st and 2nd molar by shape. The eruption of the wisdom teeth could be painful to some people and also it could erupt unnoticed. Extraction of these teeth is only important if it pushes the existing teeth due to lack of space in the mouth or just causes inconvenience by any means.
