Orthodontics

There is no age limit for an orthodontic treatment. Crowding, protruding teeth, deep overbite, open bite, spacing, crossbite and underbite – all these can be successfully treated for both children and adults.

Fedasz Dental employs the leading orthodontists in Hungary providing a wide range of techniques which include Invisalign, Simpli5, Alexander and Damon Systems. All these treatments are carried out at our clinic.

Appliances

Orthodontic appliances can be removeable or fixed, and are custom-made.  They can be made of metal, ceramic or plastic, and work by applying gentle pressure to move the teeth.
Fedasz Dental dentists work with Invisalign, Alexander and Damon braces which allows teeth to be straightened using either metal or clear aligners.

How should I know that I need braces?

If you have crooked or crowded teeth, protruding teeth, deep overbite, open bite, spacing, crossbite and underbite or simply have teeth out of alignment, you are likely to get braces. Sometimes crown work, bonding or veneers are options to orthodontic treatment.  Your dentist will help you assess which is the most appropriate type of treatment for you.

How long do I wear braces?

It depends on how complicated your problem is. Some might need a few months others might need more. This is predicted during the first consultation by your treating doctor. Wearing time also depends on the type of braces you wear. Damon® System claims to have shorter treatment time thus fewer appointments needed.

What is the difference between Alexander and Damon® System?

Alexander or known as real braces can be made of metal or ceramic, and work by applying gentle pressure to move the teeth. Some advertised removable clear aligners may seem like a tempting alternative however, clear aligner trays require uninterrupted compliance and don’t move teeth as efficiently as real braces. Fedasz Dental offers Alexander braces with metal and clear aligners. Clear aligners are mainly preferred by adults as they look are very discreet by auto-adjusting to the tooth's natural color.

Damon passive self-ligating braces use a slide mechanism to hold the wire, which allows teeth to move more freely, quickly and comfortably rather than using elastic or metal "ties". This also results in shorter treatment time and require fewer adjustments. The aligner's base is made of white ceramic and the slide mechanism is metal.

What is  Invisalign®?

Your Invisalign treatment will consist of a series of aligners that you switch out about every two weeks. Each aligner is individually manufactured with exact calculations to gradually shift your teeth into place. And since your Invisalign system is custom-made for your teeth and your teeth only, with a plan devised by you and your dentist or orthodontist, you know you'll end up with a smile that truly fits.

What is  Simpli5® ?

While Invisalign® may be the most familiar brand, there are other invisible braces offered by Fedasz Dental. Similarly Simpli5® is a five-aligner system that  is primarily intended for use with treatment plans that involve the correction of minor to moderate mal-alignments of anterior teeth. It can also be used to treat one or both of a patient's dental arches (upper/lower). In the case of dual-arch treatment there will be a total of ten aligners worn for 10 to 20 weeks of treatment time.

Are veneers a good solution?

While veneers aren't a direct comparison to braces, they can still address some of the same cosmetic problems. But getting veneers is considered more of a quick fix than teeth straightening, and they have some distinct drawbacks. When you decide on veneers, the entire front surface of the tooth enamel is permanently removed. Then the veneer, a thin piece of specially-shaped porcelain or plastic, is glued over the front of your teeth. This is an irreversible procedure, since the tooth enamel is removed to accommodate the veneer.

Another problem with veneers is that they are not a permanent solution. They can chip or break, requiring you to replace them on an individual basis, which can get pricey. Even if they don't chip or break, over time they will come off. Veneers tend to last about 5 to 10 years, depending on the quality of the veneers purchased. Since your tooth enamel has been removed, most patients have no choice but to replace their veneers, incurring the same high costs every time they have to get a new set.

Last, but perhaps most important, because veneers are a purely cosmetic treatment, they don't correct health problems of your teeth. Instead of straightening teeth as braces, a veneer simply covers up imperfections. Our braces offer you beautiful, healthy teeth—it's a solution worth smiling about!

Does it hurt?

Very light "shape memory" titanium wires are used that gently guide your teeth to their ideal position. Many people experience very little discomfort.

Will I need teeth pulled?

Sometimes the treatment requires extraction, space is made to improve facial balance and symmetry to provide a natural smile and profile that will last as you age.

Aren't braces big and bulky?

Not any more! Braces are much smaller than they were just a few years ago, and new materials are now used that make them very discreet. Invisalign® is a good option.

Is there an age limit?

Children from the age of seven can be assessed with functional orthodontic treatment, but the treatment with fixed appliance does not usually begin until a child has lost all the baby teeth.
For adults it’s never too late to have the smile always wanted. Braces can move teeth at any age to achieve a beautiful result.
